Liquid Dreams is Jacuzzi Sunset’s most eclectic album and their sole release as a 4-piece. Heavy funk grooves, melancholic pop, dreamy psychedelics and swampy rock with a powerful, atmospheric sound. It was recorded summer 2012 at studio Cloud #11 in Eindhoven by Remco Hendriks and mixed the same year at Trypoul Recording Studios in Neerkant by Dirk Joosten and Remco Hendriks on a Neve 88RS console. Guitarist Gijs Heijnen entered the line-up after playing several shows with the band, with Dylan Van Meurs on drums, Floor Van Rijt on vocals/guitar and Remco Hendriks on bass, this album represents the core of their live set at the time. Mixing was done on an analogue Neve 88rs console, with Teletronix LA-2A compression, a Lexicon 480L reverb and other prime outboard gear. Mastering was done at Trypoul as well, it was during the loudness war so there was no choice but to squash it, which makes for an interesting listen nowadays. Just a small number of self-released copies of this album exist, from deep down it resurfaces in 2023, air bubbles filled with liquid dreams. So take a deep dive, get washed away, soak it up and submerge to your own liking. Let’s get wet!
